Carson Jumps on the Trump Train; Endorses Anti-LGBT Trump for President

by Hayley Miller March 11, 2016

This morning, former Republican presidential candidate Ben Carson officially endorsed the party’s leading candidate, Donald Trump.

Carson has a long history of offensive rhetoric towards the LGBT community, claiming that bringing back ‘Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell’ was a good idea and suggesting that transgender people be required to use separate bathrooms. Earlier this year Carson even suggested that “prison” proves that being LGBT is a choice. He walked those comments back after HRC demanded he apologize.

In recent months, Trump has joined Carson in spreading harmful anti-LGBT rhetoric, doubling down on his stances against marriage equality and supporting discriminatory religious refusal bills.

With endorsements like Carson’s, it is clear that Trump is proud to stand on the wrong side of history with this anti-LGBT leader.

This group of anti-LGBT advocates proves that there is much at stake for the LGBT community this election season. That is why HRC endorsed Clinton in January at rally in Des Moines, Iowa. Click here to learn more about HRC’s endorsement.

Paid for by Human Rights Campaign PAC. Not authorized by any candidate or candidate’s committee.
