HRC Foundation’s All Children - All Families Presents Seal of Recognition in Kentucky

by HRC staff May 04, 2016

Last month, HRC Foundation presented the All Children - All Families Seal of Recognition to the Children’s Home of Northern Kentucky (CHNK). CHNK has been working with the All Children - All Families project since May of 2015 to complete all 10 Benchmarks of LGBT Cultural Competency and has exemplified a commitment to compassionate and competent care of LGBTQ youth in the child welfare system.

Through their participation in the All Children - All Families project, Children’s Home of Northern Kentucky has furthered their mission to advocate for a supportive, healthy and safe environment for every child and family. In support of the agency’s success, Jim Obergefell, the named plaintiff in the landmark U.S. Supreme Court case that legalized same-sex marriage, was able to join CHNK on their special day.

“CHNK’s leadership in providing culturally-sensitive services to LGBTQ youth is one aspect of our overall approach in creating an environment that is safe and supportive for all our families and clients,” Rick Wurth, CHNK’s Chief Executive Officer, said in a press release.

“I am thrilled to welcome Children's Home of Northern Kentucky into the community of child welfare organizations that are truly committed to supporting and serving the LGBTQ youth in their care,” said Ellen Kahn, director of the HRC Foundation’s Children, Youth & Families Program. “The child welfare professionals at CHNK are shining examples of how to prioritize efforts to improve practice with LGBTQ youth.”

Where kids [...]
