A Meddling Fan Tried To ‘Bait’ Colton Haynes Out Of The Closet

by Dan Tracer May 23, 2016

This kind of scheming is usually relegated to the plot lines of the kinds of network shows Colton Haynes acts in, but Arrow costar Stephen Amell reveals he was targeted by a fan trying to “out” Haynes.

Haynes, who was something of a well-known in gay circles but only publicly came out earlier this month, has said he’s “never been happier” since his decision to confirm he’s gay.

Haynes’ costars, including Amell, were all supportive. “I’m so happy for Colton,” Amell told E!

But a few months ago, Amell had an odd interaction with a fan at a Comic-Con.

Here’s how he tells it:

“A fan three or four months ago at a Comic-Con convention basically tried to bait me into outing him.

“I got in touch with [Colton] and was like, ‘Hey, man, this happened [and] I didn’t know what to say. I simply deflected and we moved on.’

“He emailed me back and said, ‘You know, I really appreciate that and I’ve recently made some decisions over the past few months and I’m excited about what’s in the future.’”

Curiouser and curiouser.

“As long as he is living his best life and he is at his most happy, because that is stuff that I’ve seen him struggle with,” Amell added.

We’re glad everything worked out OK.
