Watch: First Episode of Ellen Page’s “Gaycation” Premieres

by Hayley Miller February 25, 2016

Gaycation, the new show staring HRC supporter Ellen Page and her friend Ian Daniel, was released early yesterday on YouTube.

The show follows Page and Daniel as they explore LGBT culture across the globe.

“In the first episode of the series, Ellen and Ian head to Japan, where same-sex marriage is still not legal and same-sex couples often bear a social stigma,” Vice.com explained. “However, certain cities have begun to recognize same-sex partnerships and the LGBT community continues to thrive in the country's vibrant culture and nightlife. Ellen and Ian find out what it's really like to identify as LGBT in Japan and meet some of the people struggling to find their voice in a country that refuses to give them equal rights under the law.”

Page came out two years ago at HRC’s first annual Time to THRIVE conference. Since coming out, Page has frequently discussed the positive impact coming out has had on her life, emotionally sharing her personal journey towards love and acceptance on late night talk shows and in magazine interviews. She continues to share the positive impact on Gaycation.

Watch the first episode now and don’t forget to tune in for the official premiere on Wednesday, March 2 at 10 p.m. on Viceland.
