There’s a common misconception that learning ASL is easy — but some specialists claim it takes roughly 1,320 hours of instruction before becoming proficient.

Hopefully, that means model, actor, and deaf activist Nyle DiMarco will be putting in many long hours during his new series of shirtless ASL lessons every other Wednesday; an attempt towards making ASL more mainstream. (“Why Wednesday?!,” he asks, “Hmm… because it’s ‘hump’Wednesday…”)
