New Yorkers came out of the woodwork to celebrate Pride in New York City this year. In addition to our previous report that White House hopeful Hillary Rodham Clinton local politicians like New York Governor Andrew Cuomo, Congressman Jerrold Nadler, NYC Mayor Bill Deblasio, Senator Chuck Schumer, and Councilmember Corey Johnson came out to show their continued support for the LGBTQ community. These figures, along with Grand Marshals Celia Chung, Jazz Jennings, and Subhi Nahas led over 30,000 marchers with the theme “Equality Needs You” through a roaring card.
Roughly two million people came out to cheer on the floats and marchers along the 2.01 mile route. Some of the most notable sponsors of this year’s pride included T-Mobile, TD Bank, Delta, Reyka Vodka, Vitamin Water, Diet Coke, Kiehl’s, Bud Light, Facebook, and Lift. We’ll share a few of our favorite people we spotted in the crowd below, including Miss Fame, Sandra Lee, Raja, Kiehl’s President Chris Salgardo, Laura Gomez and the cast of Orange is the New Black.
