The “Carrie” 40th Anniversary Party No Horror Fan Should Miss

by Dan Tracer October 13, 2016

It’s gonna be a bloodbath. To mark the 40th anniversary of Carrie — Brian De Palma’s genre-defining horror classic — the weSpark, Ace Hotel and Scream Factory are hosting a Halloween season screening party with cast and crew in attendance. The lobby of the Los Angeles Ace Hotel will be fully decked out for a rampage-free senior prom circa 1976, complete with a costume contest, photo booth, “Bloody Carrie” cocktails and a live DJ.

40 years ago, Brian De Palma helmed the ultimate coming-of-age horror film with Stephen King’s Carrie, a story both celebrated and revered by cinephiles and ultimate horror fans alike.

The star-studded cast and crew reunion is set to include Carrie stars Academy Award-nominated Piper Laurie (The Hustler), Nancy Allen (Dressed to Kill, Robocop), P.J. Soles (Halloween), Academy Award-winning editor Paul Hirsch (Star Wars: Episode IV) and Casting Director Harriett B. Helberg (The Jazz Singer). The cast will participate in a live Q&A moderated by Bryan Fuller (the creative genius behind TV’s Hannibal, Pushing Daisies and the upcoming series American Gods and Star Trek Discovery).

Attendees are encouraged to dress up in prom attire or their favorite Carrie character to enter a costume contest that will be hosted by none other than drag superstar Jackie Beat. Miss Beat is well-known as one of the world’s most passionate fans of Carrie, with a room in her home dedicated to the film that has appeared in publications around the world. Over her 25-year career in show business, she has appeared in everything from Sex and the City to Flawless.
