We recently ran an article called, “Men Having Babies: Financial Assistance for Gay Men, that produced an overwhelming response: where can all LGBT and modern families find financial resources, grants, and aid to use toward creating a family? GoFundMe campaigns are quite popular these days when it comes to financing adoptions, fertility treatments, and surrogacy, however, many people are unaware that there is actually a lot of financial assistance programs that provide grants and low-interest loans to prospective parents.

So for LGBT prospective parents or modern couples or individuals looking for financial assistance toward making their family, check out the information that we have provided below. Click on the links to learn more!

Fertility Treatment Financial Assistance (Many of these welcome LGBT, single applicants!)

Offers financial assistance (grants) for IVF treatments

Welcomes LGBT and single applicants (even though the application appears geared to heterosexual couples)

Must have a diagnosis of infertility from doctor (doesn’t fully explain if LGBT parents are covered under this restriction)

Awards up to $10,000

Specifically for Shady Grove Fertility patients pursuing IVF

Awards up to $10,000

Grants for uninsured prospective parents who need fertility treatments

Must use a fertility clinic that is a member of the Society for Assisted Reproductive Technology (SART)

Must show financial need and can’t have insurance that covers IVF

A scholarship, not a grant

Financial Assistance for LGBT prospective parents

Financial assistance fund for gay men who want to create a family through surrogacy

Offers discounts for surrogacy services and the other provides grants for surrogacy

General Adoption Financial Resources

(Accepts applications from individuals or couples regardless of race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, ability, marital status, etc.)

Provides financial assistance to prospective parents who wish to adopt internationally

Awards up to $5,000

Also offers a low-interest loan program

Awards grants for domestic or international adoptions

45% of grants went to special needs adoptions

Awards usually range from $1,000-$7,500

Open to all legal adoptions and no income requirement

Awards usually range from $500-$2,000

Also offers adoption loans

Open to all types of adoptions, even foster care

Awards up to $15,000

Military Members Who Want Adopt

Active military service members can receive adoption reimbursements of up to $5,000 per year. The only requirements: “The adoption must have been arranged through a source that is authorized by a state to provide adoption placements, if the adoption is supervised by a court under state or local law. Paid after the adoption is finalized, this benefit is not doubled if both parents are in the military.”

Military parents who adopt disabled or special needs children can also receive up to $1,000 in financial assistance each month.

The National Military Family Association can answer more questions.

However, all things are possible if you set your mind to them. Those that prioritize their fitness nearly...
