Parents and Friends of Lesbians and Gays in Australia are taking marriage equality issues into their own hands with their brand new ad campaign. The YouTube video shows a pregnant woman and her mate in the doctor’s office having an ultra sound.
“Well, everything seems to be coming along fine,” the technician says. “Now, would you like to know what you’re having?”
“We would,” the mother replies.
“You’re having a lesbian,” she tells the couple.
The two parents-to-be stare happily into each other’s eyes and the mother exclaims, “A lesbian!”
The end message reads: “Any child can be born gay. So marriage equality is every family’s issue.”
“Being lesbian or gay is not a choice,” Spokeswoman for Parents and Friends, Shelley Agent, told News.com.au. “It’s got nothing to do with culture or parenting skills. It’s just the way you are. You’re born that way.”
Queensland, Australia is also getting hit with a similar billboard campaign featuring a pregnant woman smiling and the slogan: “Congratulations, you’re having a lesbian.” Steve Minon, a freelance advertising creative director, devised the campaign in hopes to get people thinking.
“We’re trying to point out to any family that marriage equality can be your number one priority, without your knowing about it,” he said.

All of a sudden, LGBT couples and families had to figure out how to file jointly when it came to taxes, how to add...

I recently wrote an article for The Next Family called, “Family-Friendly Films That Feature Adoption and Foster Care,” that shared wonderful family films with adoption or foster care story lines. My reasoning behind doing so was because every family deserves a chance to see similar families like theirs represented in various forms of entertainment.
The same can be said of other...
