Two Dads: Our Life 2010

walking in the rain outside with an umbrella

I woke up to the sound of rain hitting window sill this morning. This is a sound that I love and have become very comfortable with over the past few weeks as we never get this much rain in Southern California. It seems the rain always puts me at ease and somehow makes me reflect on life.

Sometimes, I think we let life and the business of it grab our focus and we forget how lucky we are. This year has been a hard one for a lot of people with the economy, many without jobs and those who have lost their homes. They say that in 2010 more people lost their lives due to natural disasters than any other year on record.

As I sat at the computer with my coffee and the sound of the rain I began to think about all that has happened over the past year. I decided that I wanted to make something special for Trevor, something that was a nice reminder of what a great year we had. I ended up spending a few hours creating this video. This ended up being a great reminder to me also of how very lucky I am. I hope one day when Grace is older, she too can look back at this wonderful life we are so blessed with. This is Our Life, 2010.

However, all things are possible if you set your mind to them. Those that prioritize their fitness nearly...

Representation of Modern Families in Kid-Friendly Entertainment

I recently wrote an article for The Next Family called, “Family-Friendly Films That Feature Adoption and Foster Care,” that shared wonderful family films with adoption or foster care story lines. My reasoning behind doing so was because every family deserves a chance to see similar families like theirs represented in various forms of entertainment.

The same can be said of other...
