Sweethearts Candies Valentine’s Day Ad Features Gay Couple Together For 55 Years

by The Next Family January 25, 2016

If you’re not a Necco Sweethearts candy fan, you will be after you watch their adorable new ad! Necco casted Jack and George, a gay couple that has been together for 55 years to star in their Valentine’s Day ad and they’re about the cutest couple you’ve ever seen.

2016 marks the first year that the two men will be legally married for Valentine’s Day and we imagine that it will be a perfect one for these two soulmates.

Necco CEO Michael McGee told AdWeek, “We spent the day with them in their home and got to know them. We just kind of rolled the camera and let them tell their story. When you see how they interact with each other—their strength, their genuineness, their commitment to each other—they are just so endearing.”

Try not to smile or laugh at how these two lovebirds interact. A relationship that lasts this long and is filled with so much love is what we all strive to have. Good job, Necco.

I recently wrote an article for The Next Family called, “Family-Friendly Films That Feature Adoption and Foster Care,” that shared wonderful family films with adoption or foster care story lines. My reasoning behind doing so was because every family deserves a chance to see similar families like theirs represented in various forms of entertainment.
