What are Natural, Clarity Enhanced Diamonds?

Most diamonds – even the most beautiful and brilliant – contain optical imperfections known as “feathers”. This is a spot inside the diamond where light changes course and reflects in a different direction, causing a feathery dark spot, which, when determining a diamond’s clarity rating, weighs heavily on its value.

By injecting a microscopic amount of natural material into the feather, we eliminate the dark spot, causing the diamond to appear much cleaner and clearer. The material adds ZERO WEIGHT, and does not alter the integrity of the diamond in ANY way – it simply makes it better.

The enhanced diamond then carries IGC and EGL certifications of a more expensive diamond, but costs 30 to 40% less.

Some Answers to your Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs):

  • Are these real diamonds? Yes. Clarity Enhanced Diamonds are 100% natural and come from the same diamond mines as all other diamonds.
  • What is used to fix the feather? The material inserted into the diamond carries ZERO additional weight, and is composed of natural elements already found in diamonds. It is not synthetic in any way.
  • Will I be able to see the difference? No. The diamond enhancement is not visible to the naked eye at ALL. Even trained jewelers would not be able to tell the difference, unless looking under an extremely powerful microscope.
  • Do they require any additional care? Because the diamond itself is not changed or altered at all, no additional care is required throughout the life of the stone. The GIA (Gemological Institute of America) – the most highly regarded diamond laboratory in the world – published the same findings after years of extensive research on enhanced diamonds, beginning in 1982.

What is 585 Platinum?

585 Platinum has been called one of the most important developments in the jewelry industry in the last 100 years.

585 Platinum is a new platinum alloy, composed of 58.5% platinum and 41.5% cobalt – which outperforms traditional 950 platinum in both long-term durability and coloration tests. Developed specifically for use in jewelry design, 585 Platinum is special for its workability, durability, and permanent luster.

Natural platinum is a relatively soft metal, and does not have the mechanical strength for use in jewelry application. Using the new platinum alloy – which is quickly becoming an industry standard – greatly improves the life and strength of the platinum while significantly reducing the cost.

Some Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs):

  • What is 585 Platinum? Like 14kt. gold which is 58.5% gold and 41.5% other non-precious metals, 585 Platinum is an alloy composed of 58.5% pure platinum and 41.5% other non-precious metals.
  • Can the term “platinum” be used to describe the alloy? F.T.C. Guides require a minimum of 500 ppt pure platinum. Since the alloy contains 585 ppt, it is within the bounds of the guides as long as the alloy’s composition is clearly and conspicuously marked.
  • What does substantially lower mean? The alloy contains 58.5% pure platinum as opposed to 95% platinum. This coupled with its lower density means that 585 Platinum jewelry will sell for approximately 50% less than jewelry made with 950 Pt.
  • Besides price, what are the other reasons to own 585 Platinum? Platinum is recognized as one of the most precious metals in the world. Its enduring beauty, luster, elegance and durability make it the ideal metal for jewelry. 585 Platinum has all of these same qualities.
  • Is 585 Platinum hypoallergenic? All the hypoallergenic properties of pure platinum are also present in 585 Platinum. It is the perfect choice for those with sensitive skin.
  • How does 585 Platinum compare to white gold? White gold, which is yellow gold alloyed or plated to look white, for some period of time may need to be re-plated to retain its color depending on the wear and tear the piece receives.
585 Platinum retains its beauty and natural white luster forever.
