Udi Behr won’t take no for an answer. So when the Israeli jewelry designer saw Mayor Gavin Newsome espouse gay marriage on television, he was inspired to create a new high line of wedding and commitment bands especially tailored for the gay and lesbian community. Behr’s dreams almost fell short of reality as high end retail stores such as Saks, who had featured previous collections designed by Udi, were wary when it came to backing his latest venture. But Behr says, “The more you say no to me, the more you fuel me.” After eight months of rejection, Udi gave up on the conventional route and put together his own team of entrepreneurs who are as passionate for the cause as he is and so we celebrate the birth of Loveandpride.com, the online jewelry destination for the gay and lesbian community. Udi and his team will take their convictions one step further and donate 10% of all proceeds from this collection to Marriage Equality, a non-profit organization who works to secure the right to marry for same sex couples.
