Gestational Surrogate Becomes The Milk Lady

By: Kelly Rummelhart

My surro baby, Alexander, made it out of the NICU July 8th and then headed back to his home July 13th. He is doing so well and is even up to six and a half pounds! One of the issues with international surrogacy is that you can’t ship breast milk (it would melt and go bad during shipping/in customs). However, I was able to pump for Alexander for the first two weeks.

Here was my...

Gestational Surrogacy: PHOTOS

By: Kelly Rummelhart

I went into the hospital on Friday June 29th and was discharged Monday July 2nd. Alexander is still in the NICU but looks as if he’ll be discharged in the next few days (if you can believe it!).

Here are some other pictures from his 2nd and 3rd day on earth….

Gestational Surrogate: Sweet Baby Alexander

By: Kelly Rummelhart

The morning of Friday June 29th, Stacie and I walked into labor and delivery to get my “leaking” checked.

About 8 hours later we headed to the operating room. Having my best friend with me was an amazing experience. We were only three days apart in our journeys so wanted to document the bellies one last time together before mine turned into a baby.

Surprise!

By: Kelly Rummelhart

What does one get their Intended Parents for their upcoming Baby Shower? How about a baby?

At the moment I don’t have the mental capacity to write out a long drawn out birth story so I’m going to cut to the chase . . .

Friday June 29th- 34 weeks pregnant

6:00 am- Kelly wakes up to a feeling of peeing herself, twice in about five minutes.

8:00 am- While walking around doing...

What a Sweet Face!

By: Kelly Rummelhart

Whenever I go in for the 3D/4D ultrasounds, I’m blown away with how much you can see. It’s like getting a sneak peak at the baby . . . you get to see exactly who you will be meeting in a few weeks, AMAZING! So, above is Little Man! The ultrasound tech said that he had TONS of hair and very large feet! I have already heard in the past that his long bone (leg) measured very...

Oh How Quickly Things Can Change

By: Kelly Rummelhart

I am 31 weeks along in this pregnancy. In my mind, I know that pretty much anytime after 36 weeks I could go into labor. I say 36 weeks because that is the earliest I have ever given birth. I also know that it could be as late as 39 weeks, when they will schedule my c-section . . . but as I move my business and move my house I’m trying to not over do it so I don’t push myself...

It’s 3:00 pm. Do You Know Where Your Surrogate Is?

By: Kelly Rummelhart

I need to start off by saying that my current IPs are doing a great job communicating with me. I get emails and texts from them weekly and Skype with them every now and then. I actually feel bad at times because I don’t always reply immediately because of how crazy my life is lately. I always try to send them belly pictures and always check in after my OB appointments.

A...

Light at the End of the Tunnel

By: Kelly Rummelhart

I am freaking out. Nothing really pregnancy related per se, but thinking about what I have to do in the next few weeks has my mind spinning . . .

As a reminder, my husband decided to inform me a week before Christmas, on the way to Disneyland with our kids, that he didn’t want to be married anymore. Since then, I have been healing, making plans, trying to keep things as...

Long Beach Pride 2012

By: Kelly Rummelhart

Had a great time at Gay Pride this year! My best friend Stacie and I were going to be too pregnant this summer to attend SF Pride as usual, so looked around and found out that Long Beach Pride had perfect timing. So Friday, Stacie and I flew from Sacramento to Long Beach and met three other surrogate friends there.

We had our shirts made, although Stacie forgot hers at home ....

Mother’s Day

By: Kelly Rummelhart

Here I am. My first Mother’s Day as a single mom. So far, so good. Yesterday the kids and I went with my surro-best friend and her family to Six Flags Discovery Kingdom and today we are hanging out at the house until we join another friend and her family for an impromptu swim party.

All of my children made me a sweet Mother’s Day Card and the two youngest brought home items...

Inside Joke

By: Kelly Rummelhart

One of the things that is so awesome about knowing other surrogates is that only they will understand the things that you’ve gone through. A friend of mine, with the help of several other surrogates, has created an awesome page on Tumblr that shares several surro-experiences.

We tried to use people who we consider sexy . . . various races, ages, genders, etc.
Some are funny,...

Ahhhhh, They Love Me!

By: Kelly Rummelhart

We’ve made it to 25 weeks and to celebrate, my awesome IPs sent me a gorgeous bouquet of flowers and some chocolates. It totally made my entire weekend!

Time is flying by this pregnancy. Before I know it I will be placing their little man in their arms . . . brand new parents. They are getting really excited and plans for a baby shower are being laid out. Of course, I can’t...
